A huge part of BCM is our mission to others that are not a part of our campus.
"Knowing, Growing, Going"

We believe in an Acts 1:8 Strategy.
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
This simple great commission from the book of Acts gives us an outline to reach people:
at home,
in our state,
in our nation
and abroad!

Your Jerusalem, we call the city of Greenville.  Our mission is to enable Family Groups and BCM at large to volunteer in places of need throughout the Greenville Area.

Before

After working at Triune Mercy Center

 How Do I Do This?

1.  Get involved with a family group.

2.  Watch for the BCM Update to find out about when and where our next local mission activity will be, then sign-up to go.

3.  If you would like to volunteer to the same place multiple times call them and set up a regular schedule.  Here are just a few of the places we visit:
Greenville Rescue Mission          242-6933
Triune Mercy Center                       233-3402
Shepherds Gate                             268-5589
Multihousing Ministry                     242-4330
Habitat for Humanity                      370-4787
Miracle Hill Boys Shelter               292-0552
Diligent Hands                                241-1399

Your Judea, we call the state of South Carolina.  Even though many of our students are from different states, we want to send teams to help in areas of need around South Carolina.  We believe that you can learn alot rubbing shoulders with people who are close to us but live in a different community.

BCM working with Charleston Outreach

How Do I Do This?

1.  Get involved with a BCM SPOTS (special projects other than summer) Team and sign-up to go.

2.  Each year BCM and SC Missions send student missionaries within our state.  You can apply by going to www.GoandSend.org in the late fall until the beginning of February and filling out an application.

3.  If you want to apply for a specific location or type of work, we can help. Here are just a few popular places to work for the summer:
www.charlestonoutreach.org
www.intracoastaloutreach.org
www.lowcountryministries.org
www.scbaptist.org click missions, summer missions and find positions in State Parks and Campgrounds, Children, Youth and Multihousing sites, Resort Ministries and Sports too.

Don't forget that we can help you locate summer Christian camps with in our state that are looking for help too.

Your Samaria, we call the United States of America.  Every year BCM is committed to sending teams of students to different places, not only to explore and learn, but to realize just how big God truly is.  We find these trips based upon need and through  relationships.   We want students to stretch themselves by helping in other places away from home.

How Do I Do This?

1.  Get involved with a BCM SPOTS (special projects other than spring) Team and sign-up to go.

 2.  Each summer BCM sends student missionaries all over the US.  You can apply by going to www.GoandSend.org in the late fall until the beginning of February and filling out an application.

3.  If you are interested in a particular area of the country, state or specific cause like Disaster Relief, we can help you locate a place to serve.  Don't forget there are many national Christian camps that need summer help as well.  Here are some great websites to check out:
www.answerthecall.net
www.namb.net click on Student Missions
You can even be a Semester Missionary after you Graduate at a College Campus for up to 5 Sem.
www.fuge.com for Centrifuge & Lifeway Camps
You might even chose to be an Innovator, which is a missionary that goes to place and gets a job to earn money, then volunteers during their off times.

Your Ends of the Earth, we call the World.  Many Furman students choose to study abroad, but we think that it is essential for us to go abroad to help other people groups and nations.  We truly are blessed and have so many resources.  We hope every student will feel the call to share and go, even if it is around the world to people that have a different language and culture.

How Do I Do This?

1.  Once every few summers and at least once for every class, BCM offers an international mission trip opportunity.  These trips are usually a week to 14 days and you must sign-up, apply to go and raise support in order to help send the team.

2.  Each summer BCM sends student missionaries to foreign countries to serve alongside career missionaries.  Trips may be short term (a couple of weeks)  or longer (up to 12 weeks), some are supported completely by BCM and others students are asked to raise part or all of their expenses.  You can apply by going to www.GoandSend.org in late fall until the beginning of February to apply and fill out an application.

3.  If you have a  specific country you would like to serve in or a special calling to a specific task we can help.  Check out our international website to view requests and apply.
